Outbreaks of skin irritations can not only be frustrating, but quite uncomfortable and impact hugely on your quality of life.
It may not be possible to completely avoid skin irritations, however, following these three simple steps could help to reduce the susceptibility of skin becoming irritated and lessen the severity of these outbreaks.
Step 1: Establish the cause of your skin irritation
According to expert dermatologist Dr Haus of London’s Harley Street, “skin irritation can be caused by several factors, such as chemical, physical or biological agents. First it's important to identity what is the cause and then eliminate it from your environment” he adds. “I always advise my patients to avoid hot showers or baths because this can lead to dry skin and increase the possibility of irritation.”
Step 2: Avoid allergens
Allergies are increasingly common these days. Avoid allergens and irritants and get tested to find out if you are indeed allergic to any of the many allergens our skin is exposed to daily.
Step 3: Protect your skin
Whether it’s protective clothing or creams, it’s important to give your skin an extra layer of protection from the aggressions of changing temperatures, wind, pollution and anything else life throws at it. Using skincare products with minimalist formulas that are specifically formulated for sensitive skin. These will help to protect from allergens, reduce skin sensitivity and could reduce the frequency and severity of these skin irritations when they do occur.
