How to prepare your acne-prone skin for makeup

For those with acne-prone skin, coverage is often the key to fast results and instant transformation. However the myths surrounding makeup can be confusing and concerning for those wishing to conceal their blemishes, without breaking out. Prepping your skin before applying makeup is an essential step for achieving a flawless finish.

Step 1: Preparing a clean base

Use the Effaclar Sensitive Skin Micellar Water to cleanse your blemish-prone skin before applying any products; this will leave you feeling fresh. Follow up with Effaclar Astringent Lotion , once a day so as not to irritate the skin, this will help to tighten pores and tone skin, whilst also removing dead skin cells from the surface of your skin.

Step 2: Choosing the right moisturiser

For those concerned about the longevity of their makeup, primer is a good option to help you feel confident in your coverage. Most primers have properties which hydrate the skin and even out skin tones, which make it a great step to take pre- foundation.

For those with blemishes, Salicylic acid and LHA provide a keratolytic action to the skin, which means that they work to remove dead skin cells and exfoliating pores. Meanwhile Niacinamide gets to work on inflamed skin and blemishes. These ingredients are found in Effaclar DUO [+] , making it a great makeup base for those with acne-prone skin.

The combination of Airlicium and Carnosine in Effaclar K+ , makes it the perfect base for your makeup if you have oily skin with blackheads. Airlicium is an incredibly absorbent ingredient, absorbing up to 100 times its weight in sebum. Meanwhile the Carnosine in Effaclar K(+)  is able to get rid of blackheads with its antioxidant and anti-inflammatory properties. The combination of these powerhouse ingredients will ensure skin is matte and ready for makeup, as well as treating your oily skin and blackhead concerns.

For those with shiny skin, Effaclar Mat is a great alternative to traditional primers. It contains Perlite, which is an ingredient that will mattify skin before any makeup application. Use Effaclar Mat to keep skin hydrated and shine-free.

With your skin perfectly primed you’re ready to start applying makeup!.
